Through a 12-year span, the director demonstrated the evolution of Jacks high-intelligence serial killer through multiple murders. The whole film unfolds around Jacks perspective. In his eyes, each of his murders is a work of art. As the police investigation is approaching, he has to take more and more risks every time he commits a crime, in order to create the ultimate artwork in his mind. Through repeated conversations with a stranger named Verge, we were able to gradually understand Jacks artistic interpretation of murder. This is a kind of cruel and elegant blending, a childs self-pity, and the reason for his spiritual perversion. "The House That Jack Built" tells a gloomy and cruel story in a philosophical, sometimes witty, narrative way.收起全部
